Public Relations

Public Relations (PR) is about managing communications, reputation and relationships for organizations. It involves attracting and retaining the support of customers, employees, investors, communities and other stakeholders critical to an organization’s success.

PR professionals work in a wide variety of organizations and industries. They may provide advice to management and decision-makers at the highest level, and work closely with the media.

You’ll gain hands-on experience by developing strategies for real organizations, as well as undertaking a professional internship in your final year. Curtin’s PR major is accredited by the Public Relations Institute of Australia.

Management

Management knowledge and skills are valued and needed in small-to-medium enterprises, not-for-profit organizations, large corporations and government, both locally and globally.

Management is about taking a leading role: supervising and mentoring staff, balancing budgets, and ensuring tasks and projects are completed successfully, together with recognizing issues such as values, ethics and sustainability. It means taking responsibility, being entrepreneurial and getting things done, and making the most of your staff and resources.

A management qualification can create opportunities in a wide range of careers. Curtin’s management graduates may receive recognition from a range of professional bodies.
