You will major in international relations (IR) as part of your arts degree, then enhance your career options by choosing a complementary major and electives from the 36 disciplines on offer. In the masters component, you’ll explore global governance and the United Nations, IR theory, international politics and security and strategy.

Demonstrate a broad and coherent body of knowledge in the Arts disciplines, with depth in the underlying principles and concepts in one or more disciplines or areas of practice.

Master of International Relations

Review and analyse major theoretical, conceptual and policy debates and disputes in International Relations pertaining to foreign policy, conflict and security, international and regional politics, globalisation, and international law with reference to empirical cases.

Entry for applicants with previous Tertiary, VET, life or work experience will be based on their performance in: a Certificate IV in a related discipline OR a Diploma in any discipline or 50% completion of a Diploma in a related discipline OR successful completion of relevant study at an accredited higher education institution equivalent to at least two Deakin University units OR other evidence of academic capability judged to be equivalent for example relevant work or life experience. Other English Language Requirements accepted: IELTS: Overall 6.0, no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (PBT) score of 550 Writing 4.5; TOEFL Internet Based: 65 Writing 21; CPE: 169 no band less than 169; CAE: 169 no band less than 169; PTE: 52-57 No less than 50 in each skill.
