Become an innovative computing professional, specialising in AI. Gain the experience you need for a career in technology.

This course will give you the skills and knowledge to apply the latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and methods to a wide range of problems. You’ll gain a solid foundation in computer science with a focus on AI, and will study topics such as machine learning, algorithms and complexity, and visual computing. This course is for you if you’re keen to learn about current AI technologies and would like to specialise in this field from the start of your degree, whilst still gaining a grounding in broader computer science.

In the first year, you’ll learn the basics of computer science, including mathematics and programming skills, along with an introduction to the theory and practice of AI. In the second year, you’ll continue to develop your AI skills, with a focus on machine learning. In the final year, you’ll choose optional units alongside an individual project that will allow you to specialise in a specific area of AI. You can specialise in areas such as robotics, natural language processing, intelligent agents, and computer vision. You’ll regularly meet with an academic who’s an expert in your chosen field.

Year abroad

Broaden your horizons with a year studying at a university abroad. You’ll experience another culture while studying a course that complements your studies at Bath.

AAA or A*AB in three A levels including A in one of: Biology, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology or Statistics.If you are taking a GCE A level in a science subject, you will need to pass any separate science practical endorsement.Alternate offer: AAB in three A levels including A in one of: Biology, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology or Statistics plus one of:grade A in an EPQ,grade B in the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Challenge Certificate,grade B in a Core Mathematics qualification,grade B in AS level Mathematics or Statistics.If you receive an offer for this course and are studying one of these qualifications you will be given both the typical and alternative offer.
