Software engineering goes beyond programming. It’s about developing, writing, testing, implementing, and maintaining software systems. It’s the foundation of all computer systems. In other words, our digital world depends on software engineering.

In UNB’s Software Engineering program, you’ll learn how to develop and maintain reliable, safe, affordable, and efficient software systems that satisfy customer requirements. You’ll also gain the skills and knowledge needed to work on large and expensive software systems that often have safety-critical applications.

Software Engineering is a joint program in the Faculty of Computer Science and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The program is available as a Bachelor of Science in engineering degree.

Why Software Engineering at UNB?

Our program is the only Software Engineering program in Atlantic Canada accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB), and one of only 14 CEAB-accredited programs in Canada. The program is also accredited by the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS). Our small class sizes at UNB mean greater interaction between you, your instructors, and your peers.

Analyze and document customer requirements

Design, analyze, and implement efficient solutions

Work in teams and develop leadership techniques

Campus: Students may complete all 4 years of these Engineering programs in Fredericton, or may complete the first two years in Saint John.

High school students applying to undergraduate programs at the University of New Brunswick. China: Senior Middle Two and Three results as well as a graduation certificate. Students may also be asked to report scores from the National College Entrance Examination grades of 70% or above. International students require the following English language proficiency minimum scores for direct entry into most academic programs: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 85, CAEL 60, or Pearson Vue Test 59.
