當美國大學畢業(yè)季的先后結束，新一輪的美國留學申請也逐漸拉開序幕，日前，美國高校(包含耶魯大學、芝加哥大學和喬治亞理工學院、波士頓學院等8所高校)陸續(xù)公布2018年美國大學補充文書題目。這些與普通申請文書相配套的補充文書題目的問世，便宣告了新一季2018年美國留學申請即將開始。

什么是美國留學申請的補充文書?

眾所周知，美國留學申請過程中需要提交各項申請材料，其中PS、essay、CV等申請文書必不可少。而有一部分美國大學會要求申請者在普通申請文書的基礎上，再附加一篇、兩篇、三篇甚至更多不同長度的補充文書題目，話題是學校給出。比如從“寫一封信給你未來的室友”到“如果你要在耶魯大學教一門課，那么會是什么?”

而對于一些不適用通用申請系統(tǒng)Common   Application的美國大學，他們在申請文書上會有自己的系統(tǒng)要求和文書要求，比如麻省理工學院、、喬治城大學、加州理工學院等》》》【匯總】美國大學申請中Common App的使用方法。

2018年美國留學申請補充文書題目匯總

目前，已經(jīng)公布的8所美國大學補充題目分別為耶魯大學的文書補充題目、芝加哥大學的文書補充題目、普林斯頓大學、密歇根大學、賓夕法尼亞大學、約翰霍普金斯大學、波士頓學院、喬治城大學的申請文書補充題目。

1.普林斯頓大學的補充文書題目

Activities: Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular   activities or work experiences that was particularly meaningful to you.   (Response required in about 150 words.)

Summers: Please tell us how you have spent the last two summers (or vacations   between school years), including any jobs you have held. (Response required in   about 150 words.)

Your favorite recording

Your favorite source of inspiration

Your favorite line from a movie or book and its title

Essay: Your Voice(不少于250詞不多于650詞)

Engineering Essay*

If you are interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering   degree, please write a 300-500 word essay describing why you are interested in   studying engineering, any experiences in or exposure to engineering you have had   and how you think the programs in engineering offered at Princeton suit your   particular interests. *This essay is required for students who indicate Bachelor   of Science in Engineering as a possible degree of study on their   application.

2.耶魯大學的補充文書題目

“Yale is all about community. The "college system" is an integral part of the   Yale experience and one that sets Yale apart from many of the other Ivy League   schools. Because of this, Yale is asking several questions about what   prospective applicants would add to the community.

So, in your answer, you need to address what role you would play in your   "college" and in the overall community. In my suite of 6 girls my freshman year   at Yale, we had students from all over the world — Russia, China, Brazil — and   girls with totally different interests — poetry, sports, cooking (one girl   cooked entire meals just with a portable stove top), and engineering. So when   Yale asks you these questions, you need to be detailed and creative, and you   need to show them that you would make an awesome addition to your residential   college. I'd also like to point out that Yale is adding two residential colleges   this year!”

“招生官會認真地讀你的每一個答案，包括只有35字的簡答題。當然他們會更加注意你是如何回答“你申請耶魯?shù)脑蚴鞘裁础边@個問題。最符合招生官期待的答案一定是能夠闡明耶魯和其他學校的區(qū)別的。招生官不會被一個能夠適用于任何美國大學的問題回答而打動。

對于申請工程或計算機科學專業(yè)的學生來說，選答文書非常重要。這不僅是你向招生官展示你對該專業(yè)領域的熱情和興趣的機會，同時你也需要利用選答文書闡明自己已經(jīng)清晰理解成為一名工程師或者電腦科學家意味這什么、你對這個行業(yè)已經(jīng)了解了什么。

3.芝加哥大學的補充文書題目

補充文書題目：芝加哥大學要求從話題里面選擇寫一篇“擴展”文書，以及兩篇論文(一篇是要求的，一篇是選擇性的)。

題目選項(部分)：

Essay Option 3: Earth. Fire. Wind. Water. Heart! Captain Planet supposes that   the world is made up of these five elements. We’re familiar with the   previously-noted set and with actual elements like hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon,   but select and explain another small group of things (say, under five) that you   believe compose our world.

Essay Option 5: Fans of the movie Sharknado say that they enjoy it because   “it’s so bad, it’s good.” Certain automobile owners prefer classic cars because   they “have more character.” And recently, vinyl record sales have skyrocketed   because it is perceived that they have a warmer, fuller sound. Discuss something   that you love not in spite of but rather due to its quirks or imperfections.

Essay #2 (適用新生，最多500 words) Describe the unique qualities that attract you to   the specific undergraduate College or School (including preferred admission and   dual degree programs) to which you are applying at the University of Michigan.   How would that curriculum support your interests?

5.賓夕法尼亞大學的補充文書題目

How will you explore your intellectual and academic interests at the   University of Pennsylvania? Please answer this question given the specific   undergraduate school to which you are applying. (400-650 words) *For students   applying to the coordinated dual-degree programs, please answer this question in   regards to your single-degree school choice. Interest in coordinated dual-degree   programs will be addressed through those program-specific essays.

6.約翰霍普金斯大學的補充文書題目

Successful students at Johns Hopkins make the biggest impact by collaborating   with others, including peers, mentors, and professors. Talk about a time, in or   outside the classroom, when you worked with others and what you learned from the   experience. (Up to 400 words).

7.波士頓學院的補充文書題目

四選一 (400 word limit)

1. Human beings have a creative side that tends to shine most when we are   truly invested in the world around us. Describe a situation when you responded   effectively to a particular need and found yourself at your creative best.

2. Experience teaches us the importance of being reflective when making major   decisions. Share an example from a recent event when a leader or an average   person faced a difficult choice. What were the consequences of the decision?   Would you have done the same?

3. Boston College strives to provide an undergraduate learning experience   emphasizing the liberal arts, quality teaching, personal formation, and   engagement of critical issues. If you had the opportunity to create your own   college course, what enduring question or contemporary problem would you address   and why?

4. Jesuit education stresses the importance of the liberal arts and sciences,   character formation, commitment to the common good, and living a meaningful   life. How do you think your personal goals and academic interests will help you   grow both intellectually and personally during college?

8.喬治城大學的補充文書題目

喬治城大學要求的補充essay比較多，包括1篇Short Essay+2篇Brief Essays，題目分別如下：

Short Essay: Briefly discuss the significance to you of the school or summer   activity in which you have been most involved. (approximately one-half page)

Compose two brief essays (approximately one page single-spaced each) on the   topics given below.

Essay One:(所有申請者適用)

As Georgetown is a diverse community, the Admissions Committee would like to   know more about you in your own words. Please submit a brief essay, either   personal or creative, which you feel best describes you.

申請商學院: The McDonough School of Business is a national and global leader in   providing graduates with essential ethical, analytical, financial and global   perspectives. Please discuss your motivations for studying business at   Georgetown.
